Pour me another cup of coffee….

9 Feb

Ah – Here’s to Coffee! (Make mine Deep Creek Blend- roasted right here in our little mountain town by Smoky Mountain Roasters).

Yup, the first thing I do is get up, make the bed (I used to be an avid non-bed-maker-upper, but I’m back to the days when my mother didn’t let us get by with an unmade bed – no way!), wash the sleepy from my face, put in my contacts, pour my coffee, sit in my leather chair in the little library room where I can see the distant mountain, and sip sip sip rich dark black hot coffee while I open up my laptop and begin ….

What’s your morning rituals? And, are you a bed maker upper?

A few of you have already said you like the frienship ball idea; so, I am going to start that friendship ball rolling! I have some things to mail today, so while I’m doing that, and visiting my friendly little mountain post office (I wonder if the twinkly-eyed postman will be there asking me what’s in my envelopes?), I’ll be sending the friendship ball on the first part of its journey.

And I’m happy because I have books from Bellebooks that they have so generously donated to me for my book give-a-ways! I just opened the box and was excited to see all those beautiful covers, all those beautiful books. I can’t wait to see Tender Graces “in the flesh.”

So, come by tomorrow and I’ll have something here for you to have a chance to get a new book. It may be just something quick and fun.

Kimmi has a guest blogger – go by and have a good laugh!

Later gators….

I’m laughing abut that twinkle-eyed postman. I can just imagine the small town talk going on…I roll out of bed and reach for tea or diet coke, depending. Tuurn on some music, depending on mood. Take care of the critters.. and so the day begins. ;D Thanks for the shout!

I would love take part in the friendship ball…what a great idea!My morning begins way too early as I am NOT a morning person. My little man gets up around 5, not long after my husband has left for work, and then he comes and cuddles with me. Of course he brings Franklin our pet monster with him…lol. I short time later my little lady joins us for our morning cuddle fest. I then turn on cartoons for them to watch in my bed quietly. I then make coffee and wake up while reading some blogs and drinking lots of hot black coffee and hopefully peace and quiet. Once the troops are too restless and can no longer be contained on a bed…lately it’s Franklin that can’t lay still and quiet…then we start our day of getting dressed, eating, making beds, all the fun stuff of starting out the day and then we leave for daycare and work.

Great idea about sending the friendship ball around the globe! (I’m too selfish…can’t let go of mine. LOL) Maybe there could be a permanent list in the ball too of where it’s traveled to and a written expression from each person who participates? Mornings: I used to be a night owl, but 4 years of rising at 4:30 AM to get ready to teach ruined that. Coffee first thing in front of computer screen. If I’m at Mom’s for the night, I pre-set the coffee pot there too. Love your Deep Creek Blend! PS We’re making a virtual gumbo at my blog today, so stop by and get a bowl and/or add an ingredient. :)

Me? I skip all that washing nonsense. I stumble into the kitchen, grab my coffee and open my laptop.I read the news first, blogs second. When I’m done with all that I wash. Sometimes. :-P

Isn’t every email a friendship ball all on its own? You can send anything, with little fear of it ending up in a ‘return to sender’ backwater…

Oh Kat, how amazing to see and hold your book! I live for that day of my own. I hope and pray it comes to pass.My morn routine these days is to not-so-much-pop out of bed, hit the loo, put my contacts in and not-so-much-run to the laptop in my writing space. (I’m a slow mover. ;) Once I’ve had a quick looksee at e-mail and all those essentials, I head off to wake my girls and make their standard waffles. We get around and I drive my kindergartner to school, then my little one and I come home and settle into our day. I’m pretty darn blessed.

I think the friendship ball idea is great! Plus, I get to envision you back at the PO with that postman going home and saying, “Nan, that crazy woman from up the holler was back today mailing off her rocks”. That kinda gives me a thrill.I get up, bounce downstairs (I’m a morning person), make five sandwiches, try to get five people out the door leaving as little behind as possible, then collapse into my chair with my laptop.

Yes, the coffee, I forgot to mention the coffee! My morning isn’t complete until I’ve had my coffee. I like it slightly sweet, which mocha and over ice. Mmm…

I’m lovin’ the “bouncing ball” idea! What a fantastic way to bring everyone we talk to together in a tangible way. Love it! And I really like Angie’s idea of having a rolling note going that shows where it’s traveled from. Oh, how cool is this?

Oops, got so caught up in all that, I forgot to mention my morning ritual. LOL! I was NOT a bed-maker-upper until we remodeled our bedroom and got new bedding and now I just have to. :) I'm sure it will wear thin after a while.I wake up first and then have to be the morning Nazi and get everyone else rolling, slogging down cereal & OJ with my daughter before we leave for school and work. I get my coffee there. 8 hrs later, I get to see my house again and say hello to my laptop. Anything you see from me during the day is because I'm cheating on my job. :)

I love the friendship ball idea. Will you get a list going of who wants to participate or how will that work?Morning, late riser, pull on robe, slippers, straight to kitchen for breakfast. Sit at dining table eating and reading or writing. Sometimes I get into a project and don’t get dressed right away. I make the bed before I get dressed. Mornings are kind of free and at whim!

Kat, I came to tell you I just opened a special little envelope. Thank you so very much for everything in it! :)

interested in the friendship ball thing. i am an early riser, when at home, and always with work. when i am home, i enjoy a morning cup of coffee with something sweet of course. i always make up my bed, sometimes before i get out of it. i work long periods at a time, sometime for weeks and don’t get to all my magazines, so i play catch up with my morning coffee sometimes.(in my off time) love coffee with baileys also, yum, yum. a night time treat sometimes. nice blog, look forward to your book give away!!

I love the friendship ball idea! :) It’s really cool! I am a total night owl. I wouldn’t get out of bed at all if I didn’t have to. LOL :) At least not until noon.

It’s so great to watch the journey of your book. I can hardly wait to go buy my copy. The friendship ball idea sounds so cool.My morning routine starts with cuddling the puppy (all 100 pounds of him), a first sip of coffee with cream (I know, I know) then feeding the dog and three yowling cats. Then an hour of spirit time.

This blog post reminded me that I don’t have a favorite coffee yet. But I feel I should have one. I’m going to start an official Favorite Coffee search. My morning rituals are pretty bleak and sad. I am just not a morning person. But I do like to make my girl laugh and smile. That’s a nice thing to start my day off with. And heading through a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through for their coffee. It’s not in the running as my official Favorite Coffee, but it’s only $2 for a large decaf with creme. And that’s good.
